Porcelanosa renews and improves its DAPcons®, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability in the building sector

14-10-2021

Porcelanosa is a Spanish business group, specialized in the manufacture and commercialization of ceramic and natural floor and wall coverings, facades, new generation surfaces, kitchen furniture, sanitary ware, taps, bathroom accessories and installation solutions, environment and sustainability.

With the desire to maintain and expand their commitment to sustainability, they have expanded their commitment to the DAP of the products they manufacture in their production plants in Villareal (Castellón).

The following actions have been carried out are the following:

  • Renewal and update of your DAPcons®.002.015 of the medium ceramic tile, which becomes the DAPcons®.NTe.005. It should be noted that the variation of the different impacts of the products analyzed in their stages A1-A3 is less than 10%, so it can be considered a good data quality despite being an average product.
  • You have divided your DAPcons®.002.016 of medium porcelain stoneware into the DAPcons®.NTe.006 (Porcelain stoneware (BIa)), DAPcons®.NTe.007 (Stoneware (BIb)) and Ecologic porcelain stoneware (BIa). This segregation of products is the logical step that a mature company in the sector of type III eco-labels (DAP) must take. Improving the quality of your product data allows you to make more informed decisions. In addition, it opens the possibility of comparisons between its own range of products, allowing its customers to decide according to their degree of commitment to climate change.

It should be noted that its product Ecologic porcelain stoneware (BIa) is made entirely with clay materials by-product of other Porcelanosa processes.

The company ReMa Ingeniería SL, an affiliated member of the DAPcons® Program, has been in charge of preparing this DAPcons®, subsequently verified by ITEC. It is valid until 09/30/2026 and is based on UNE-EN 17160 Product category rules for ceramic tiles.

All these are Environmental Product Declarations "from cradle to cradle", that is, the environmental impacts of the product are analysed considering the manufacturing, construction, use and end of life stage.

The DAPcons® Program was born in 2008 with the aim of bringing together manufacturing companies that want to advance in the analysis of the environmental impacts of their products and commit to the environment.
