The General Council of Technical Architecture of Spain (CGATE), the Green Building Council Spain (GBCe) and the Efficient Habitat Clúster AEICE have signed and agreement for the creation of the “Buildings and Health” Forum that has brought together more than 70 professionals from different areas with the aim of delving into the main aspects of buildings that affect the health of users and promoting the performance and quality of our buildings to make them healthier.
Within the Forum, 9 working groups were created, corresponding to the health areas studied in the interior spaces of the buildings. The result of the study has been published in the book "Buildings and Health" that make up a guide of 9 chapters to learn how to design and execute buildings with health and well-being standards for people.
These 9 aspects under study have been: hygrothermal comfort; air quality and healthiness; materials; quality and acoustic comfort; illumination; ergonomics, mobility and accessibility, water quality, electroclimate, healthy types.
The chapter on materials has been coordinated by Jordi Marrot, director of the technical department of Col·legi d’Aparelladors, Arquitectes Tècnics i Enginyers d’Edificació in Barcelona (CAATEEB).
