The DAPcons Program adapts to the new UNE-EN 15804: 2012 + A2: 2020 ‘Sustainability of construction works’

The DAPcons Program is working on updating it to the new UNE-EN 15804: 2012 + A2: 2020 ‘Sustainability of construction works - Environmental product declarations - Basic standards for the construction products category’. This standard is responsible for the development of standardized horizontal methods for evaluating the sustainability of new and existing construction works; and the standards for the environmental product declaration (EPD) of construction products.

During the last six months, work has been done on the adaptation of the new regulations through ECOPlatform, a European association whose main objective is to encourage the environmental information contained in the EPDs to be used in decision-making on the construction activity in order to be able to achieve the sustainable development goals.

Throughout the month of April and May, DAPcons has met with all the agents of the Program to review and approve the new adapted documents that have been worked on over the preceding months. Verifiers, panel of experts and advisory committee will be the protagonists and responsible for the adaptation of the Program.

Beyond fulfilling the main purpose of approving the documentation of the Program, the debate and analysis generated has shown the enormous potential for improvement that this type of meeting has, having improved the documents with little need for extra work by any of the agents. Thus, the DAPcons Program seeks to increase the frequency of this type of meeting to stimulate and make the most of the latent knowledge and talent within it.

We are in the middle of the Decade of Action, so if you think you have something to contribute, do not hesitate to get in touch.
